NIRMAL: A monkey's carcass was found in a Mission Bhagiratha water tank in Nigwa village, Kubheer Mandal, Nirmal district, causing concern among local residents. For the past week, water from the tank had been supplied to the village, but suspicion arose when the water developed a foul smell. Upon inspecting the tank, villagers discovered the decomposed body of a monkey and immediately alerted the authorities.

Officials quickly removed the carcass and cleaned the tank. However, the villagers expressed their anger, criticising the authorities for continuing to supply the same contaminated water for an entire week without taking any precautionary measures.

This incident has drawn comparisons to a similar event earlier this year in April, when a water contamination issue was reported in Nagarjuna Sagar, Nalgonda district. In that case, a water tank serving around 150 houses in Vijay Vihar Colony was found to contain around 30 monkey carcasses. Residents had noticed hair and small pieces of flesh in their tap water for ten days before discovering the issue. When municipal staff arrived to clear the tank, they were momentarily obstructed by aggressive monkeys before successfully removing the bodies.

Both incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety and maintenance of public water supply systems in the region. Local residents are demanding stricter oversight to prevent such incidents from happening again.
