HYDERABAD: A heart-wrenching scene unfolded in Hyderabad as several poor families were rendered homeless by the ongoing HYDRAA  demolitions.

These families, who had built houses years ago after migrating to the city, were left on the streets after their homes were demolished without prior notice. Many of these families had saved every penny to build their houses, only to see them torn down instantly.

The demolitions took place in Madhapur's Sunnam Cheruvu FTL zone, where over 100 structures were destroyed. The affected people were not wealthy landowners or those who built luxury villas without permission. They were daily-wage workers who had struggled for years to own a small plot of land and build a house.

When officials demolished their homes, many were not given time to retrieve their belongings. As a result, children, the elderly, and women were left shivering in the rain, using tarps and sheets for shelter. The sight of families huddling together to protect themselves from the rain moved onlookers deeply.

Several locals expressed anger over the inhumane actions of the authorities, criticising the lack of compassion shown to these displaced families. In a few cases, people protested by attempting self-immolation, pouring petrol on themselves, and claiming that they were being treated unfairly by the government.

Many have called for more humane treatment and for the authorities to reconsider their methods during such operations.
