65 Congress tickets sold for Rs 600 crore, Gadwal leader alleges foul play by Revanth Reddy

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress party secretary Dr Kuruva Vijay Kumar has alleged that State party president A Revanth Reddy has sold the Gadwal Assembly ticket to a non-Congress leader who paid of a bribe of Rs 10 crore and 5 acres of land.

The Congress had given the Gadwal ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections to Saritha Tirupataiah who joined the party just a few months ago after jumping ship from the BRS.

Staging a dharna at the Martyrs Memorial, Gun Park on Monday, Vijay Kumar said, "Revanth Reddy was infamous for his involvement in note-for-vote case. Today he is now embroiled in note-for-seat."

Vijay Kumar went on to allege that Telangana Congress leaders were alloting party tickets to only those who pay a hefty amount. "65 party tickets have already been sold at the cost of Rs 600 crore," he said.

He added that many senior leaders worked hard but they were denied tickets. "The party will suffer a major setback in the ensuing assembly election if the hardworking leaders are not recognised and given their due share. Revanth Reddy must be immediately sacked from his post. We will complain to ED and Election Commission about Revanth Reddy's irregularities," Vijay Kumar said.
