WARANGAL: The Mulugu District Police successfully rescued 80 individuals who were trapped in the forest near Muthyamdara waterfall.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when a group of young people from Khammam, Hanamakonda, Karimnagar, and Warangal districts, visited the waterfall. While returning, they were unable to cross the river due to the sudden rise in water levels at a stream, leaving them stranded. After realising they were in danger, the stranded people contacted the police through dial 100.

Upon receiving the distress call, the district SP immediately swung into action. Besides advising precautionary measures to the stranded individuals, the SP alerted the district disaster response force, NDRF teams, and the local police station and mobilized the forces to the scene.

Under the leadership of SP Goush Alam, a team comprising 50 personnel from the DRF, NDRF, and local police was deployed to conduct the rescue operation. Throughout the night, continuous search operations were carried out by the District SP and the police teams and rescued 80 individuals, and provided them with necessary food and medical aid.

It is noteworthy that the group consisted solely of young individuals, and there were no women among them. One person who required medical attention was given the necessary treatment.

The SP expressed his gratitude to ASP of Eturunagaram Sirishetty Sankeerth IPS, Venkatapuram CI Kumar, SI Koppula Tirupati Rao, the Disaster Response Force, and the NDRF teams for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in ensuring the safe rescue of the stranded tourists.

In light of the heavy to very heavy rainfall being experienced in the area, the SP strongly advised people against visiting prohibited areas and urged the people to refrain from coming out of their houses unless it is an emergency.
