HYDERABAD: The man who made the separate State of Telangana a reality after a prolonged fight and nurtured it as the number one State in many sectors of the country was deeply hurt by the comments of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief A Revanth Reddy.

During a debate in the assembly on the overall growth of Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) wanted to know why the Congress leader wanted to offer ‘Pindam’ an offering made in the rituals of a dead person.

“Today we have sustainable economic development, the highest per capita income, uninterrupted power and drinking water to every doorstep. I have achieved Telangana after decades of struggle,” KCR said.

“Is the Congress leader means to say that I should be offered a ‘Pindam’ for doing all this for the State and its people? Is this regard that I receive for doing all this? I have achieved something that you (Congress) failed to do,” KCR questioned.

He said that deeply pained by the way the Congress leaders spoke ill of him. “What type of culture is this? Is this a political party? One should not talk as they like just because they have a mouth. There may be no control over leaders in the Congress party but the society is watching,” the Chief Minister recalling the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s predicament after his comments on a particular surname.

“Court sentenced two years of jail and he lost his MP post for the comments he made. It is a different thing that the Supreme Court rescued him. Don’t you think that we can't take stringent action on the Congress leader for his comments?” KCR said.

The Telangana Government was liberal and patient, otherwise, we would have taken that man to task, the Chief Minister observed. He said that the Government could have slapped a case or instigated police to take action, but we know that people would teach Congress a lesson, KCR said.
