Fan garlands Pawan Kalyan from crane; Janasena chief demands action on ‘abuser’ CI

TIRUPATI: Jana Sena Party (JSP) President Pawan Kalyan on Monday filed a complaint with Tirupati Superintendent of Police (SP) Parameswara Reddy against Srikalahasti Circle Inspector (CI) Anju Yadav for slapping his party leader during a protest held recently.

Pawan Kalyan condemned the attack by Anju Yadav on JSP leader K Sai after submitting his complaint to the SP. He appealed to the SP to initiate disciplinary action against Anju Yadav for her high-handedness against his party activists, apart from conducting a detailed inquiry with the higher authorities over the incident.

Earlier on Monday, Pawan Kalyan had arrived at the Tirupati Airport in Renigunta in a special chopper from Hyderabad. From there, the JSP Chief took out a massive rally by standing on top of his four wheeler and greeted his party activists. While several fans expressed their enthusiasm by taking pictures of Pawan Kalyan, one eager fan latched himself to a crane and garlanded his idol. This video went viral on social media, showcasing the fan following for the actor and JSP Chief.

In response to Pawan Kalyan’s complaint, the SP informed the JSP Chief that the issue would be taken to the notice of higher authorities. “A charge memo has already been given to Anju Yadav and departmental action will be taken after receiving a reply from her. Steps will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents,” the SP said.

Speaking to the media at the Tirupati SP office, Pawan Kalyan said, “Everyone has the right to protest in democracy. People can protest against government policies in a peaceful manner. It is the duty of the police to protect the people who are protesting in a disciplined way, They do not have the power to attack and terrorise the people.”

The JSP Chief said that the police should work for the public and not for any political party. “JSP workers have always maintained discipline and have never crossed the line either during protests or during public meetings. In Srikalahasti, the JSP leader Sai also protested in a peaceful manner. However, Anju Yadav violated the law and slapped him. It is nothing but disregarding the constitutional rights of the people,” Pawan Kalyan said.

Pawan Kalyan also appreciated the decision of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) to serve notices upon Anju Yadav and file a suo moto case against the CI. “We hope that justice will be done to the victim. JSP doesn't want to clash with police all the time. We will fully support them in every possible way. We hope that they will also contribute to the JSP in a suitable way,” Pawan said.

After submitting his complaint to the SP, Pawan Kalyan left for New Delhi to attend the BJP-led NDA’s meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
