The chief minister's directives came in response to a request made in this regard by Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, who hails from Khammam district. As there were no signs of respite, several people's representatives of the ruling TRS are constantly monitoring the flood situation and coordinating with teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to carry out rescue operations.

Several NDRF teams are already on the ground in flood-affected areas of the state. They have been shifting people stuck in flood-hit areas to safer places with help from the local police and government authorities.

The state government has also taken adequate measures to rehabilitate the displaced people in make-shift relief camps.
