HYDERABAD: In what appeared to be a dig at price hikes, TRS party leaders pasted pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on gas cylinders on Saturday in Hyderabad. This was reportedly in response to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman questioning a Telangana district collector about not displaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photo at a PDS shop on Friday.

The leaders of the TRS on Saturday decided to attack the centre in Hyderabad by sticking pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the gas cylinders in retaliation to Nirmala Sitaraman's widely shared video.

The pictures of Prime Minister Modi were displayed on cooking gas cylinders along with the price of each cylinder—Rs 1,105.

The TRS was targeting the Prime Minister as a result of the massive increase in cooking gas prices over the last eight years. TRS leaders also claimed that LPG was only Rs 410 when PM Narendra Modi was elected Prime Minister in 2014.

Krishank Manne, TRS's Social Media Convenor, told Newstap, "We simply carried out Nirmala Sitharaman's order by pasting Modi's pictures onto gas cylinders. It is indeed Modi's achievement to triple Gas Cylinder prices from Rs.400 to 1150 during the BJP's rule".
