HYDERABAD: A woman staged a sit-in protest at her in-laws house here, alleging that she was harassed in a foreign country by her NRI husband. According to information, Rameswari, a postgraduate in science and the daughter of Mahender, a resident of Domalaguda in Hyderabad, was married to Mahesh of Hyderabad on May 26 last year. He was paid Rs 10 lakhs in cash and 20 tolas of gold towards dowry.

Later, Mahesh brought her back to India under some pretext and abandoned her in Hyderabad. Refusing to give up, Rameswari went back to the US only to be harassed further for dowry by Mahesh.

With the help of her family members and the local authorities of the US, Rameswari came back to India and approached her in-laws demanding justice.

But with her in-laws allegedly foisting a case against her, Rameshwari staged a protest in front of her husband's house in LN Nagar of Yousuf Guda. She vowed to continue her protest till she got justice. Meanwhile, the police said that a case has already been registered against Mahesh, the accused, at the Women's Police Station and is under trial in the court.
