TIRUPATI: India’s latest cricketing sensation Surya Kumar Yadav aka SKY was in Tirumala on Tuesday to seek divine blessings. He visited the hill-shrine of Sri Venkateswara Swamy along with his wife and other family members and had the darshan of the presiding deity.
The temple priests later blessed him and his entourage at the Ranganayakula Mandapam by chanting vedic hymns before they were offered the sacred thirtha prasadam of the Lord. The news of Surya Kumar Yadav’s presence almost caused a mini-stampede outside the temple as enthusiastic fans vied with one another to take selfies with the dashing Indian batter.
Surya Kumar Yadav, who recently hit the news for being crowned as the top batter in the ICC International T20 rankings, visited the temple during the VIP break darshan time.
The cricketer, also known to be religious, purportedly visited the temple to seek divine blessings ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (ICL) and India’s challenging cricketing assignments. A permanent fixture of the Mumbai Indians, Surya Kumar Yadav is also making waves for India with his swashbuckling batting in the T20Is and ODIs.
He also earned the nickname of ‘Mr 360 Degrees’ for his unique ability to score runs in all corners of the ground.
