KCR visits New Secretariat building, Ambedkar statue site; monitors work progress

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Friday paid a visit to the new secretariat building, named after Dr B R Ambedkar, and personally monitored the interior works and the finishing touches being given to it. Later, KCR also monitored the works on the 125-foot-tall Ambedkar statue and the Amar Jyothi, being installed adjacent to the Secretariat premises.

The huge edifice, nearing its completion, is scheduled to be inaugurated on April 14, 2023, the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. The Chief Minister, who has been taking special care in the execution of his dream project right from its designing stage, enthusiastically went around the floors, personally taking stock of the progress of various works. He also gave a few on-the-spot suggestions to Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and other officials on some required alterations in the interior works in his chambers and other areas.

While the core construction of the imposing building is said to have been completed, the contracting firm is currently busy sprucing up the interiors by giving the necessary finishing touches. KCR, during his tour of the new secretariat building, also sought detailed feedback from the officials on what remains to be done.

He reportedly advised them to quickly identify pending works, if any, and ensure their completion within the prescribed time frame. Minister for Roads and Buildings and Housing Vemula Prashant Reddy also proactively explained the pace and progress of various works to the Chief Minister. The Minister has been shouldering the responsibility of the new secretariat building construction.

The Chief Minister later also went to the adjacent construction site for the installation of the 125-foot-tall Dr B R Ambedkar statue and monitored the progress of the works there. He also visited the site of Amar Jyothi construction and reviewed the pace of works.
