Kidnapped Sircilla girl marries her boyfriend, releases video
The girl, the so-called victim, released a video on social media clarifying that it was not a kidnap and that she had willingly fled to get married to the person she loved
SIRCILLA: In a filmy twist to the kidnapping incident in broad daylight that caused commotion in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday, the girl, the so-called victim, released a video on social media clarifying that it was not a kidnap and that she had willingly fled to get married to the person she loved.
Earlier on Tuesday in Mudapalli of Chandurthi mandal, the girl, who is believed to have turned major recently, was kidnapped by four men who came in a car. The girl, identified as Jamuna Shalini, was returning home along with her father after a visit to a Hanuman Temple. The father, whose attempt to chase the kidnappers proved futile, later lodged a complaint with the police.
A few hours later, it turned out to be a kidnap drama enacted to perfection as Shalini posted the video on social media along with her husband clarifying about the incident. The video, showing Shalini and her boyfriend in wedding wear, went viral on social media. It is learnt that Shalini had already married John, the kidnapper, in the past. But since she was a minor then, the police registered a case based on a complaint from her family and arrested him under POCSO Act.
Shalini, who was not interested in the marriage arranged by her father, informed John about their visit to the temple and planned her kidnapping. She further said that she could not recognise his face as he had covered it with a mask and therefore the speculations of kidnap arose.
