KTR asks officials to monitor flood situation at Sircilla

HYDERABAD: Telangana's Municipal Administration, IT and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao asked officials at Sircilla district to take necessary precautions in view of the heavy rains in the State. Compared to other districts like Jagityal and Nirmal, Rajanna Sircilla has been witnessing slightly lesser rainfall. However, the Minister asked officials to be prepared with all the required resources.
KTR held a review meeting at Sircilla. ZPP Chairperson, District Collector, Municipal, Irrigation officials , Engineering departments, Agriculture and other departments were also present in the meeting on Thursday.
The Minister said, "We are witnessing rainfall, like never seen before in July. According to preliminary information, the rainfall was recorded as 450 percent more than usual. There are no unusual situations in Sircilla like Peddapalli, Jagityala and Nirmal, yet. However, we mustn't be careless and be prepared. Officials should be proactive. Measures, to avoid loss of life and damage to property, should be taken and safety audits should be done in all areas. Before releasing water from any dam, the Police Revenue department and locals of the low-lying areas must be alerted and shifted to safety. Officials should also arrange drinking water, safety and sanitation resources. The unused borewell have to be immediately dealt with and warning signs have to be put up wherever necessary."
