HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for Information Technology K T Rama Rao flagged off the Indian Racing League car races on Saturday. The event scheduled for two days on Saturday and Sunday at Hyderabad Street Circuit, on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake.
As a precursor to the Formula E race, slated for February 2023, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), in collaboration with the Indian Racing League (IRL), organised the races.
The Indian racing League is a five-city race and is being held for the first time in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the HMDA also confirmed, in a press release, that the IRL was being conducted on the same tracks that would be used for the Formula E races next year. The HMDA also said that the IRL race was not the same as the Formula E race.
Interestingly, Hyderabad was the only city listed to host the 2023 Formula E races and the city is expected to host the races for the next four years.
