Mud bath event organised in Siddipet, 70 yoga practitioners participate

HYDERABAD: A traditional mud nath event, which is regarded as one of the natural therapies to deal with a wide variety of diseases, was organised at Chandramouli Garden in Siddipet under the auspices of the Vyasa Maharshi Yoga Society.

As many as 70 yoga practitioners participated in the event.

Going by the ancient theories, the mud bath has been a common practice when most people used to undergo this process for the treatment of many diseases especially rheumatoid problems in the elderly. However, the practice has now become history with people not looking at it and now with the initiative of some social organisations, the practice is still alive as there are programs being conducted in parts of the state.

President of Vyasa Maharshi Yoga Society Nimma Srinivas Reddy participated in the event and encouraged the participants.

Addressing the gathering, he said that they had organised the event for the second time in Siddipet as part of the Aarogya Siddipet program ambitiously undertaken by the Telangana Finance and Health Minister. T Harish Rao. He said that the mud bath helped in the treatment of skin diseases, and joint pains especially rheumatoid, being overweight, diabetes, blood pressure, etc.

Yoga instructor Thota Sathish said that mud baths had been a common practice in the ancient days and expressed concern over the fact that this ancient practice had now become extinct.

According to the organisers, the mud bath is a process of applying mud mixed with ingredients such as cow urine, milk, ghee, tulsi powder, cotton roots, turmeric, neem, lemon, etc on the human body and making him stand in the sun for an hour. He said it enabled the sweat glands to open and thus improve blood circulation besides helping in reducing joint pains, blood pressure, diabetes, overweight and digestive diseases.

President of Siddipet District Yogasana Sports Association Thota Ashok, Telangana Regional Teachers Association State Executive member Vanga Narsi Reddy and members Suresh, Raj Kumar, Sai Gangapuram Srinivas and Raja Mallaiah participated in the program.
