Police put duty first, self later, says Cyberabad CP Stephen Raveendra

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Stephen Raveendra, paying tribute to police personnel who sacrificed their lives to serve the country, said that it was the police which came in first to rescue citizens in any situation.

The Martyrs Day Program was observed at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate Office in Gachibowli on Friday. The Commissioner and senior police officials paid tributes to the martyred policemen.

Stephen Raveendra said, "The department stands by the policemen who died in the line of duty. This year 264 people were martyred across the country during duty.Police Martyrs Day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyred soldiers and the martyred policemen across the country."

He also said that police forces across the country, be it 1600-ft above the sea level too, were determined to protect people's lives, time and money. The police, apart from monitoring law and order, were also dealing with changes in the society, he said.

The police, even in difficult times, were adopting new ways of policing and dealing with changes, he said.
