Security beefed up across Hyderabad amid PM Modi's visit

HYDERABAD: Security has been beefed up by the police in all the three police commissionerates in the wake of the BJP's national executive meeting, and a public meeting at the parade grounds on July 3. Hyderabad Commissioner CV Anand inspected the security arrangements at the parade ground on Friday.

Heavy security has been arranged with 4,000 policemen for the meeting to be held at the parade ground. He said that strict measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents and clarified that there will be traffic restrictions in the background of the meeting. Motorists were advised to follow the routes indicated by the police.

Also, the police imposed traffic restrictions within the HICC area. The citizens traveling to Kothaguda Junction and Gachibowli Junction from Neeru's are advised to take COD through Durgam Cheruvu and Biodiversity. Vehicles coming from R C Puram, Chandanagar, Madhapur, and Gachibowli should go via BHEL, HCU, IIIT, and People coming from Miyapur, Kothaguda and Hafizpet should travel via AIG Hospital and Durgam Cheruvu.

Earlier, the 'Special Protection Group (SPG)' teams, which reached Hyderabad on Wednesday before the arrival of the Prime Minister, had a meeting with the local police at Novotel Hotel. It is said that Modi would stay in the Raj Bhavan itself first. However, intelligence sources stated that it would be difficult for Prime Minister's transportation to HICC, which is 14 km away from Raj Bhavan. Therefore, the Prime Minister's stay was finalized at Novotel itself.

Prime Minister Modi will reach Begumpet on July 2 evening in a special aircraft. From there, he will go to the HICC premises where the meeting will take place in a helicopter. Modi will stay at Novotel Hotel. It is learned that a whole floor has been reserved for the Prime Minister's stay in this hotel which has 288 rooms. The entire hotel was booked from July 1 to 3 for BJP working group meetings.

Amid the Prime Minister's visit to HICC and Novotel, the security officials are conducting a nuclear inspection in the surrounding areas. The SPG teams have collected the details of the hotel staff and checked their homes. Officials monitored the performance of CCTV cameras in HICC, Novotel Hotel, and surrounding areas and deployed policemen around the hotel. It is announced that drones, and para-gliders were banned.
