Several districts in Andhra Pradesh experienced widespread flooding after torrential rains in the first week of September. The Budameru stream overflowed, causing significant waterlogging in Vijayawada. Thousands of homes were submerged, leaving approximately 2.5 lakh people affected. Many residents faced losses as household items were destroyed by floodwaters.

The floods claimed 40 lives, and hundreds of animals perished. Relief efforts continue, with donations from Telangana and other states, alongside contributions from industrialists and philanthropists in India and abroad.
