YS Jagan criticises government for negligence during floods in Andhra Pradesh

KAKINADA: YSR Congress Party leader and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of negligence, leading to severe losses for farmers during the recent heavy rains and floods.

Jagan visited flood-affected villages in the Pithapuram constituency of Kakinada district on Friday to meet with victims and offer his support.

During a media interaction, Jagan sharply criticised the current government, accusing Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to deceive the flood victims once again. He mocked Naidu, stating, "Chandrababu has mastered the art of lies on a global scale." He also took a jab at Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, calling him inexperienced in governance, remarking that while Pawan is a "cine artist," Naidu is a "drama artist."

Jagan highlighted the government's failure to alert residents about impending floods from the Yeleru Reservoir, despite being aware of the risks. He blamed mismanagement of the reservoir for what he termed a "man-made flood," accusing the government of failing to take responsibility or show empathy toward the affected people.

The YSRCP chief further criticised the government for its inaction in providing relief to farmers. He pointed out that in four months of governance, no initiatives like "Rythu Bima," "Rythu Bharosa," or input subsidies had been delivered to farmers. He also accused the government of focusing solely on photo-ops, while failing to offer real support to those affected by the floods.
