On February 20 this year, YSRCP leaders attacked the TDP office in Gannavaram, causing a significant stir. They destroyed furniture and assaulted several TDP leaders, later setting their vehicles on fire. The rampage lasted for nearly five hours. Although Vamsi did not directly participate in the incident, it is alleged that he incited the YSRCP cadres, who was an MLA at the time. Following the coalition government's rise to power, the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office was taken seriously.

The police registered a case and began an investigation based on a complaint filed by TDP office operator Mudunuri Satyavardhan. Vamsi was listed as the 71st accused in this case. With 18 arrests already made, the police have now detained Vamsi.
