Student dies after lightning strike in Bapatla

BAPATLA: A student visiting her grandmother's house in Pata Chirala village, Bapatla district, died after being struck by lightning. The incident occurred on Thursday amid heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The victim, identified as Tulasi, was pursuing a Food Technology Engineering course and had arrived at her grandmother’s village two days earlier for the Dasara holidays. On Thursday morning, as it rained with thunder and lightning, Tulasi went to the terrace to collect clothes that had been left out to dry. Unfortunately, she was struck by lightning and died on the spot.

Local police arrived at the scene and registered a case. The body was sent to the hospital for a postmortem examination.
