VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada kidney racket case has taken a new turn as mediator Venkat responded to the allegations made against him.

Venkat refuted Garlapati Madhu Babu’s accusations of being cheated by receiving only Rs 1.10 lakh after being promised Rs 30 lakh for selling his kidney. Venkat asserted that Madhu Babu is the actual culprit in the kidney racket.

Venkat clarified that he is not involved in any kidney dealings and accused Madhu Babu of orchestrating the scheme. He alleged that Madhu Babu planned this entire scenario and tried to extort money from the doctor involved by making false accusations. He stated that he only provided legal guidance and affidavits, for which he charges Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000.

He emphasized that he does not promote donors and stays out of financial transactions. He explained that the Rs 1.10 lakh given to Madhu Babu was for medical tests over six months, with Rs 7 lakh provided before the operation, totalling Rs 8.10 lakh. Venkat maintained that he did nothing wrong and suggested that an investigation be conducted to prove his innocence.

Madhu Babu’s version of events tells a different story. A small-time businessman from Guntur, Madhu Babu struggled financially after the COVID-19 pandemic, leading him to take up auto driving to support his family. During this time, he met a person named Basha on social media, who suggested selling a kidney to make money. Basha convinced Madhu Babu by claiming he had previously sold his kidney.

Madhu Babu agreed and was introduced to Venkat by Basha, who assured him of receiving Rs 30 lakh for the kidney. Madhu Babu provided all the necessary details and received monthly expenses from Venkat. On June 15, Madhu Babu underwent surgery at Vijay Super Speciality Hospital in Vijayawada, where his kidney was removed and transplanted into another person.

Post-surgery, Madhu Babu was given only Rs 1.10 lakh instead of the promised Rs 30 lakh. When he demanded the remaining amount, Venkat revealed his true intentions, questioning why Madhu Babu deserved the money since he signed documents as a donor. Feeling cheated, Madhu Babu approached the police and filed a complaint against Dr Sarath Babu and the mediators with the Guntur district SP.

The incident has gained significant attention, prompting a response from the Home Minister. The case remains under investigation, with both sides presenting contrasting narratives.Kidney racket, Venkat, Garlapati Madhu Babu, Allegations, Financial transactions, Legal guidance, Investigation
