Rs 1-crore central grant for UoH management faculty

HYDERABAD: Professors from the school of management studies, University of Hyderabad (UoH) were sanctioned a competitive research grant of close to Rs 1 crore by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India for developing a blockchain platform with a robo-advising facility.

Professor Vijay B Marisetty and Dr, Varsha Mamidi said that the grant would help in developing a blockchain platform with a robo-advising facility. Around 1 million farmers across India are said to be on- board with the blockchain platform and robo-advising facility in the pilot phase.

As blockchain technology facilitates security, trust and transparency, the project is expected to add more value chain benefits and democratic distribution of wealth for farmers. The project is said to run for two years and later it is expected to be scaled up as a pan-India platform.

Speaking about the same, the Vice Chancellor of UoH, Prof. B J Rao said, "A grant of this magnitude involving around 1 million farmers, will do wonders for the stature of the University of Hyderabad. I congratulate Prof. Marisetty and Dr. Mamidi and wish them the very best in the successful completion of this project and later scaling it up to the pan-India level."

Earlier, Prof. Marisetty and Dr. Mamidi had received blockchain use case grants through the Institution of Eminence (IoE) for developing cold chain logistics platforms for the pharma industry with Dr. Reddy's Laboratories as the industry partner. They have also won an international blockchain hackathon in Dubai and a blockchain hackathon run by the National Payment Corporation of India.
