14 bridges planned across Musi in Hyderabad at Rs 545 Cr

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has intensified arrangements to build 14 new bridges on River Musi. The works on these bridges would start in less than two months.

Proposals for the construction of bridges were in process for two years. Recently, the State Government's administration sanctioned Rs 545 crore.

The administration had taken up works to construct bridges at Moosarambagh with Rs 52 crores and Chaderghat with Rs 42 crores for which the contractors were preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The engineering company said that they were taking surveys on the bridges' height, length, location and other key details.

Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and other officials from GHMC and Hyderabad Water Board inspected the Moosarambagh bridge, which was damaged by the recent flood, on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Srinivas Yadav said that the construction of the newly sanctioned Moosarambagh bridge would start in 10 days and be completed in the next nine months. He said that there would be no disruption to traffic after the bridges were made, even during floods.

He said that the construction of retaining walls would also be taken up in flood-prone areas along the Musi. He also said that the entire Strategic Nala Development Program (SNDP) work would be completed by next June and July.

Bridges would be built at Afzalgunj, corridor No. 99 missing link, connecting Ibrahim Bagh Causeway on River Esi , Chinthalmet route connecting Inner Ring Road-Kismatpur on Esi at Bandlaguda Jagir, replacing Musarambagh Bridge, replacing Chaderghat Bridge, a parallel bridge to the existing Attapur bridge, from Uppal Bagayat layout to south bank, between Manchirevula village and Narsinghi, Budvel IT parks connecting roads parallel to Esi, connecting Hyder Shah Kot and Ramavuda, second bridge at Budvel, new bridge at Pratapa Singaram and Gourelli.
