Nagarjuna Sagar Dam's 22 gates opened amid heavy inflows

HYDERABAD: The Nagarjuna Sagar Project is currently handling significant inflows, prompting officials to open 22 crest gates to manage the water levels.
The reservoir's inflow was recorded at 2,08,863 cusecs, while the outflow reached 2,25,463 cusecs. The current water level stands at 589.70 feet, just shy of its full capacity of 590 feet. Water storage in the reservoir is at 311.49 TMC, nearly reaching its full capacity of 312 TMC.
In light of the gate openings, authorities have advised residents in the downstream areas to remain cautious and stay informed about the changing water levels.
