Starting from big corporates to small industries, Telangana attracted major investments in the year 2022
HYDERABAD: Starting from big corporates to small industries, Telangana attracted major investments in the year 2022. Investors were keen to put money into various sectors including aircraft, dairy, IT, pharmaceuticals and automobiles, and more investments are expected in the state in the upcoming years.
Around Rs 19,630 crore investment flooded the state this year, generating over 70,000 jobs across the state.
Investment of some companies and employment generation of some others have not been factored in.
In addition to these, an astounding amount of Rs 1,11,000 crore worth of investments were signed since January. These huge investments are expected to provide employment to over 63,000 people in the next two to three years.
Corporate giants or startups, managements of the companies applauded Telangana’s leadership for granting permission through TS-iPASS and establishing a hassle-free environment for businesses to actively invest in the state.
Major investments
Rajesh Exports, a Fortune-500 company, announced a huge investment of Rs 24,000 crores for the setting up of India’s first Display FAB, which will produce the most-advanced AMOLED displays. This was regarded as one of the India’s largest investments in the technology sector.
After Mumbai in India, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia-Pacific (Hyderabad) region announced a whopping Rs 36,300 crore investment by 2030. This investment is expected to generate more than 48,000 jobs annually.
IT sector
Tech-giant Microsoft invested Rs 1,500 crores to set up India’s largest data centre in Hyderabad. This data centre will provide advanced data security, cloud solutions, artificial intelligence among other services to help the developers and other institutions.
Qualcomm, an American multinational corporation, inaugurated its second-largest campus with an investment of Rs 3,904.55 crores to expand its operations in Hyderabad, outside the United States.
Aerospace and Retail
Safran Groups, a French company, with a whopping investment of Rs 1,493 crore announced to establish a mega aero engine MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) for aircraft in Hyderabad in July. This investment is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs.
Stadler Rail, a Swiss company, with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore will set up a rail coach manufacturing unit in Telangana. This investment will create over 2,500 employment opportunities.
Automobile
Hyundai proposed to set up test tracks in the Telangana Mobility Valley with an investment of Rs 1,400 crores.
Hyderabad-based Gravton Motors, which develops electric bikes under the brand Quanta, invested Rs 150 crore. This investment would generate around 3,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state.
Schneider Electric, a France-based automation company, has invested a total amount of Rs 900 crore for a factory that will be implemented in three phases. The new factory is said to be the largest and smartest factory that would employ around 3,000 people.
Dairy and Fisheries
Fishin' Company, a major in aquaculture and the largest importer of frozen food — of the Tilapia variety of fish — into the US announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana.
The project, which will be built in Mid Manair Reservoir in Rajanna Sircilla district, will use cage culture to produce 85,000 MT of tilapia fish annually. This investment will offer around 5,000 jobs to people.
Pharmaceuticals
The US-based Slayback Pharma announced to invest Rs 1,500 crore towards its expansion of its operations in Hyderabad. The investment would include setting up of a cGMP lab and a manufacturing unit in Hyderabad.
Bhuvi Biochemicals has invested about Rs 1,040 crore to set up an ethanol unit in the state. The unit would create employment to around 2,000 people.
Other significant investments
Amara Raja Batteries Limited announced plans to build a 5 GWh battery pack assembly unit and a 16 GWh lithium cell gigafactory in Mahabubnagar with a total investment of Rs 9,500 crore over 10 years. The unit is said to be built in Divitipalli generating around 4,500 new employments.
Kerala-based Kitex Group announced to invest a total of Rs 3,200 crore in Telangana. The group planned to set up two integrated fibre-to-apparel facilities proposed at the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), Warangal and Sitarampur in Rangareddy district. The investment would generate around 50,000 jobs in the state.
