59 lakh MTs of grains collected, Rs 11K cr disbursed to farmers in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana State Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Thursday disclosed that the process of collection of foodgrains was completed in 4,607 centres till Wednesday, out of a total of 7,011 grain purchasing centres set up across the state.
In a press release, the Minister said that 59 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of grains had been collected from 10.4 lakh farmers, amounting to Rs 12,051 crores. Of this, Rs 11,000 crores registered in OPMS have been deposited in farmers' accounts.
Kamalakar said that the highest grain collection of six lakh metric tonnes was recorded in Nizamabad district followed by Kamareddy with five lakh metric tonnes and Nalgonda registering four lakh metric tonnes. He said that the purchase of grains was going at a slow pace in Adilabad, Gadwal, Ranga Reddy and Vikarabad districts.
