Abhaya Hastam: Kharge releases Congress Manifesto, says people ready to defeat BRS

HYDERABAD: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge released the party manifesto 'Abhaya Hastam' for the Telangana elections slated for November 30, 2023, on Friday.

The 42-page Congress manifesto declared by Mallikarjun Kharge included six guarantees that the party had already declared, Warangal rytu declaration, Hyderabad youth declaration, Chevela SC ST declaration, minority declaration, Kamareddy BC declaration and additional promises covering various aspects.

Asking the State Congress leaders to implement the promises made in the manifesto, Kharge said that failure to do so in the first Cabinet meeting of the Congress Government could lead to a change of leadership.

“ We will implement all the points of the manifesto after coming to power because people have decided to bring us into power. The voters have decided to vote for us. People are saying they are ready to defeat BRS,” Kharge said. He said that the Congress promised Telangana, and it gave separate Telangana to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana.

Asking BRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao why he was silent on Narendra Modi in recent days, said that both KCR and Narendra Modi had a tacit understanding. “There is rampant corruption in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. The BRS Government did so many wrong things. But Modi became silent. KCR went up to Maharashtra to spread the party across the country but he stopped there,” Kharge said adding that KCR would retire soon.

Wondering why no one in Telangana took the then UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s name for granting separate Telangana Kharge said that people should realise that KCR had no numbers to pass the bill in the Loksabha. “We gave the numbers to KCR, but the benefits of Telangana went for few,” Kharge pointed out.

Criticising the BRS for spreading canards about the implementation of five guarantees given in Karnataka, he said all the guarantees were implemented in the neighbouring State. “Women are traveling free in KSRTC buses and visiting every temple in the State and free power is given, ” Kharge observed.

Kharge said that the Congress believed in equitable distribution of benefits to all subcategories in SCs, and criticised Narendra Modi for misleading the Madigas in the recent public meeting organised by the MRPS in Secunderabad. “ Who told you not to subcategorise SCs, why a committee now, when you can issue an ordinance in the Parliament,” he questioned Modi.

TPCC president A Revanth Reddy said that the manifesto was created by taking advice from all sections including the kin of martyrs. “This is dedicated to the people of Telangana. This is Bhagavat Geetha, Quran and Bible for the Congress,” he said.

CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka said that Telangana being a wealthy State was in a position to redistribute wealth. The manifesto is a document that gave a blueprint for the distribution of wealth among the needy
