ACB unearths 29 more properties of former HMDA director including in Vizag

According to ACB officials, around 214 acres of land across 29 properties were found in Telangana and Visakhapatnam. This included 19 open plots, seven apartment plots and three villas.

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) which is probing the illegal assets of former HMDA director Shiva Balakrishna have unearthed more properties beyond Telangana.

So far, the authorities have already uncovered illegal assets worth approximately Rs 300 crore. On Wednesday, it has come to light that the ACB has found another 29 properties owned by Shiva in not just Telangana but now in Visakhapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

According to ACB officials, around 214 acres of land across 29 properties were found in Telangana and Visakhapatnam. This included 19 open plots, seven apartment plots and three villas.

“We are doing a thorough investigation on the role of officers. Three more officials are likely to be arrested in the case. We have seized key files from HMDA. We also found gold and documents in lockers and are verifying investments in real estate companies," said an ACB official.

Shiva Balakrishna was apprehended on January 25, 2024, following a 24-hour search of his residence and 17 associated addresses. While his custody would end on Thursday, ACB officials are seek an extension as he had allegedly not cooperated in the investigation.
