After battering Hyderabad, heavy rains shift their base to east Telangana

HYDERABAD: The weather department has forecast heavy to moderate rains in parts of Hyderabad and east Telangana districts for five more days, under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal.

The rains would shift their base to east Telangana districts such as Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri, Khammam, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, and Peddapalli, Hanmakonda, Warangal within two hours and stay put till Saturday with brief respite on Thursday and Friday.

However, Hyderabad would continue to receive moderate to heavy rainfall till September 9 with persistent cloudy and damp weather. Moderate to medium rains were expected in all the six zones of the city. Overcast sky, with the possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at times intense spells in parts of Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad and Serilingampally zones on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department ( IMD) Hyderabad centre in its seven-day forecast released at 1 pm on Tuesday for Telangana, said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) would occur at Isolated places in most places in the State.

Heavy to very heavy rain was expected to occur at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahabubabad, KomaramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Janagaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthi, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

On Wednesday there would be light to light to moderate rain or thundershowers in most places throughout Telangana. The IMD in its advice to the civic authorities cautioned about water pooling on roads and low-lying areas in many locations. Traffic congestion, wet and slippery roads, uprooting of trees and electric poles and drainage clogging would also occur in many places.
