All set for Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat inauguration on April 30, 2023

HYDERABAD: Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat is receiving all the final touches before it will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Sunday, April 30, 2023 here. KCR will inaugurate his government’s new seat of administration at 1 pm before formally assuming his seat in his sixth-floor office.

Replacing the old secretariat complex abutting the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake, the new seven-story edifice was constructed over 28 acres in a built-up area of 10,51,676 square feet. As against the initial estimate of Rs 400 crores, the new state-of-the-art structure and its premises have been readied at an approximate cost of Rs 650 crores. The seven-storey building, which is touted to be 10 times bigger than the old secretariat complex, oozes with the blend of traditional Indian and Deccani style of architecture.

The building features two imposing domes atop the building, accompanied by 20 other smaller domes. The process of demolishing the old secretariat complex was initiated in the early hours of July 7, 2020. The foundation stone for the construction of the new secretariat building was laid about a year earlier, on July 4, 2019.

The Telangana Government on Wednesday issued a circular to all the officers and employees of the Secretariat to attend the event on April 30. They have been directed to be seated at the venue by 12 noon.
