Auto with students overturns in Gajwel; drunk driver climbs electric pole

GAJWEL: Students returning from an education hub in an auto-rickshaw sustained minor injuries after the three-wheeler overturned in Gajwel of Siddipet district on Saturday. The students were immediately taken to the hospital. However, even as everyone heaved a sigh of relief, a mini-drama took place after the auto driver climbed up a nearby electric pole fearing that the locals would thrash him over the accident.

While the locals kept pleading with him to come down immediately, the auto driver, perched on top of the pole, threatened to touch the electric wires and refused to come down. Sensing the lurking danger, the authorities quickly snapped power supply to the line to ensure the safety of the trouble-maker.

It was suspected that the auto driver might have caused the accident as he was in an inebriated state and his antics were also believed to be the result of alcohol influence.
