HYDERABAD: BRS Mancherial president Balka Suman has been booked for insulting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The police said that he made derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister while addressing party cadres in Mancherial on Monday.

In a video doing the rounds, Suman could be seen telling cadres that he would hit Reddy with a shoe. He later used foul language against the Chief Minister, prompting strong reactions from Congress leaders.

Criticising the State Government, Suman alleged that Rs 7,770 crore funds released by the BRS Government for the Rythu Bandhu scheme was diverted to Raghava Constructions owned by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy's family.

Mancherial sub-inspector K Mahender said a case was registered against Suman under the Sections 294 (obscene words), 504 (intentional insults leading provocation of public peace and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, based on a complaint received from Pudari Tirupati, a Congress councillor from Mancherial.
