HYDERABAD: Students of IIIT Basara in Nirmal district called off their protest on Tuesday. The strike commenced on June 14 and went on for a week.

Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy held discussions with the Director of IIIT, Collector of Nirmal District and delegates representing the Student Governing Council on Monday and assured the students that their concerns would be addressed.

It was announced that classes would begin on Tuesday.

The discussion, which lasted for two and a half hours, resulted in the Government agreeing to fulfil all the 12 demands of the students. The minister assured that the demands would be resolved within a month.

MLA Vittal Reddy, MP Venugopal Chary, Higher Education Council Vice-Chairman Venkataramana, Collector Musharraf Ali Farooqi, and members of Student Governing Council also attended the discussion.

The students said that Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, on behalf of the government, had promised them to address all the 12 demands and immediately sanctioned Rs 5.6 crore for infrastructure. They appealed to the Government that their demands be met within the timeline.
