HYDERABAD: In a press conference held in Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the BJP party aims to win the Munugode by-elections through false promises. "Nalgonda is a land significant for struggles and revolutions, The BJP party cannot win the elections like in the past," said the Minister.

"The BJP leaders, during their election campaign in Munugode, are promising to provide Rs 3,000 as pensions to the people, but similar promises were made in Dubbaka and Huzurabad elections which has not been executed," remarked Harish Rao. He further said that the BJP-ruled states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat receive not more than Rs 750 as pensions.

Referring to the national farmer's protest, the minister said that the BJP government had not yet implemented whatever they have promised. "It's been a year, the Prime Minister apologised but none of the promises are implemented in the country that would benefit the farmers," criticized the Minister.

Nalgonda which suffered severely due to the fluoride problem prevailing in the district was not solved by the BJP nor the TDP parties, said Harish Rao. "Though the World Health Organisation (WHO) claimed that Munugode will soon become a no-man zone, if the fluoride problem prevails, the BJP nor the TDP party leaders attempted to solve the problem, but Mission Bhagiratha, implemented under Chief Minister KCR, provided clean drinking water to the people of Nalgonda," exclaimed the Minister.

The Minister also condemned the center for not sanctioning funds for Mission Kakatiya, even though the Niti Aayog had approved the funds. He further criticised the center for not yet settling the Krishna River conflict in the state. Pointing out the recent results of the Global Hunger Index, where India's position has dropped to 107, the Minister questioned the center about the development and upliftment of the country. "BJP has only increased the poverty in the country, hiking gas prices and petrol prices would not benefit the country," said the Minister.

"BJP has even denounced the Telangana formation movement earlier, and in eight years of its rule has not contributed to the development of Telangana," asserted the Minister. He urged the people of Nalgonda to make a wise choice and elect their leaders, who will work towards the development of the district.
