BRS party represents the voice of Telangana people, says KTR
KTR emphasised that BRS is the voice of Telangana's people and will remain strong like DMK and Akali Dal.
HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao made a series of strong statements against the Congress and BJP leadership while reaffirming the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as the true voice of Telangana.
Speaking at a BRS Vidyarthi (BRSV) meeting at Telangana Bhavan, KTR asserted that BRS, under the leadership of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, remained the protector of Telangana’s political identity and continued to fight for the rights and welfare of the poor in the state.
KTR emphasised that BRS was not the personal entity of KCR or himself but a political force that represented the aspirations of the Telangana people. He drew comparisons to the durability of parties like DMK and Akali Dal, asserting that BRS would remain a strong political entity for the next 75 years, committed to safeguarding the interests of the state. "This party belongs to the people of Telangana, not individuals," he stressed.
KTR was critical of Congress and BJP, calling for vigilance against their activities. However, he singled out the BJP as a bigger threat, accusing the party of trying to divide Telangana society using religion. He remarked, "While Congress may be an adversary, BJP is far more dangerous for Telangana. They have done nothing for the state, whether providing an IIT, IIM, medical colleges, or even a Navodaya school."
He further noted the silence of BJP leaders, including Union Ministers - Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay - when questioned about their contributions to Telangana. KTR accused them of using the youth for political gains by fuelling religious sentiments instead of offering real developmental solutions.
The Congress party did not escape KTR’s criticism either. He mainly targeted state Congress chief Revanth Reddy, stating that there was no fear of his "superficial actions." He pointed to corruption in the current Congress-led government, narrating an incident involving a builder in Hyderabad. The builder reportedly stated that under KCR’s government, he never had to approach ministers for eight years due to the efficiency of the administration. However, he now had to pay Rs. 25 lakhs for a simple electricity connection. KTR said, “This reflected the corrupt practices the Congress leaders were engaging in, looting wherever possible.”
Reflecting on the challenges faced by BRS over the past ten months, KTR admitted that the party did not expect to lose the Assembly elections and sit in opposition. He recalled the difficult time when KCR had a health scare, and some MLAs were lured away by promises from other parties. Additionally, he spoke of the hardship his sister, MLC Kavitha, endured, being imprisoned for over five months. Yet, despite these setbacks, KTR said the BRS never bowed down and continued to fight for the people.
KTR expressed confidence that the people of Telangana were now remembering KCR’s leadership, particularly the benefits of schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Bathukamma sarees, and saw KCR as a leader beyond caste and religion. "People across the state are realising that KCR is the one who stands for Telangana’s welfare and development," he added.
Addressing the future of BRS, KTR highlighted the importance of student involvement, stating that the party already had offices in 32 districts and would further strengthen its organisational structure. He called for the formation of committees at the mandal and constituency levels and emphasised the need for student leaders to take active roles. He assured that BRSV, the party's student wing, would have a presence in every college across Telangana. He promised political opportunities for student leaders, offering positions such as Municipal Chairpersons and ZP Chairpersons to deserving individuals.
KTR also reassured the student leaders that they should not fear legal cases filed against them, as BRS was strengthening its legal cell to provide support. He affirmed that student leaders would be protected like "the apple of the party's eye" and encouraged to play active roles in social media to further BRS’s reach and influence.
He reiterated that BRS would continue its fight for the rights of Telangana’s poor, irrespective of opposition from Congress or BJP, and promised to defend the state's political and social identity.
