BRS pokes fun at Rahul Gandhi for his Freudian slips on Congress party’s grim chances in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi became a butt of ridicule through a Congress party’s post on ‘X’ on Tuesday.

Gandhi has become the target for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for a second time in the recent past.

The party attributing the statement to Rahul Gandhi posted that it would defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana as part of his tirade against the latter in the States that are going to polls soon. By this, he apparently forgot the fact that the Congress was fighting the ruling BRS in the State.

The post by the Congress party on its official handle quoted Gandhi as saying, "We defeated the BJP in Karnataka. We will defeat the BJP in Telangana. We will decimate the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. We will defeat the BJP in the Chhattisgarh election. We defeated the BJP in Rajasthan last time, and this time, we will defeat them again. We plan to do the same in the Northeast. Do not underestimate the idea of the Congress party Shri @RahulGandhi."

Interestingly, the BRS didn’t lose time in jeering at him and gave a sharp repartee.

The BRS in its reply on ‘X’ quipped: "Yes, Mr Rahul Gandhi. You are right. Your Congress Party can only defeat BJP in Telangana. You can never defeat BRS, NEVER! #KCROnceAgain"

The BRS Tech Cell on its handle said on 'X' said: “Rahul Gandhi ji, we appreciate you for living in reality. Yes, Mr Rahul Gandhi.

“Thanks for accepting on record that the Congress Party's fight in Telangana is with the BJP for the main opposition. Good luck!”

The BRS took advantage of the remark of Gandhi to taunt him that the Congress was vying with the BJP for the second position in Telangana, while the victory of the BRS was a foregone conclusion.

On an earlier occasion, Gandhi had said: “Right now, we are probably winning Telangana…”

Promptly picking up the “right now we are probably..,” the BRS supporters began trolling Gandhi for his Freudian Slip. They derided him for admitting that he was cocksure of the Congress defeat in Telangana, for his expression essentially indicated a sense of doubt and diffidence in him. Because, he continued saying the Congress was certainly winning Madhya Pradesh and we are certainly winning Chhattisgarh and in Rajasthan, we are very close and we think we will be able to do it.”

The ambiguity sounded in his utterance over Telangana came as a shot in the arm for the BRS. Any attempt to makeup for the statement would turn out to be a cover drive.

Thus, the BRS had fun at the cost of Rahul Gandhi which obviously irked and embarrassed the Telangana Congress.
