HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) decided on Sunday to petition the Assembly Speaker of Telangana to seeking disqualification of Khaiaratabad MLA Danam Nagender for switching sides to the Congress.

Danam Nagender went and had himself adorned with a Congress stole by AICC incharge Deepa Das Munshi in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

BRS legislators Padi Kaushik Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh and Mutha Gopal sought an appointment with Speaker G Prasad Kumar.

Though the Speaker gave an appointment at 6 pm, he wasn’t available at his residence at that time.

Though the BRS legislators tried to contact him over phone, there was no response from the Speaker.

They waited for the Speaker to turn up for two and a half hours.

Kaushik Reddy lamented that it wasn’t correct for the Speaker not to meet them despite giving an appointment. He alleged that the Speaker didn’t meet them at the insistence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He said they would try to submit the petition to the Speaker on Monday.

A case in point to be cited as an example is the disqualification of four legislators each of the TDP and the YSR Congress for switching their loyalties away from the parties on whose behalf they were elected to the Assembly.

Though there were umpteen examples, this was the latest.

Nagender's defection surely attracts the provisions of Anti-Defection Law.

if dealt with genuinely, he would lose his membership in the Assembly.
