HYDERABAD: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, along with two others, has been booked by the Banjara Hills police for the use of loud DJ sounds beyond the permitted time during Bathukamma celebrations.

Despite the stipulated noise restrictions, DJ sounds continued past 11:45 PM, prompting local police to intervene and attempt to stop the sound system. However, the mayor questioned the police, asking how they could stop a women-led Bathukamma celebration. Videos of this confrontation quickly went viral on social media.

Following this, the police registered a case against event organiser Vijay Kumar, DJ operator Ghouse, and Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
