HYDERABAD: A local court in the Korba district in Chhattisgarh summons Sandeep Kumar Jha, a Telangana cadre IAS officer from the 2014 batch, to appear in court. His wife has accused him of domestic assault and dowry harassment.

Jha's wife filed the initial complaint with the Korba Superintendent of Police (SP), stating the above offences. Dissatisfied with the claimed inaction of the police, she sought assistance from the local court. The court has now ordered the Korba Civil Line police station to file an FIR against Jha based on his wife's allegations.

According to the complainant, the couple got married in Darbhanga, Bihar in 2021. She claims that her husband has been harassing her about dowry since their marriage. She also accuses Jha of domestic violence.

Sandeep Jha allegedly demanded an enormous amount of money, gold, and silver goods as dowry at their marriage ceremony, according to the wife's complaint. Her family had to spend more than Rs 1 crore on the wedding, she alleged.

Taking into account the facts and judicial precedents presented in court by the victim's advocate, Chief Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar Suryavanshi, while accepting the application, directed that the FIR be filed against Sandeep Kumar Jha under sections 498 A, 377, and that an investigation and action be taken. Orders have been handed over to Civil Line Rampur Police Station.
