CM Revanth promises crop loan waiver by August 15, bonus on paddy from next crop

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed that the Congress government will waive off crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15.

During a roadshow in Bhongir on Sunday, in support of Congress candidate Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured farmers that the crop loan waiver would be implemented as promised, with Yadagirigutta Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy as a witness. He also announced that the government would purchase paddy from farmers during the next crop season and offer a bonus of Rs 500.

Describing Nalgonda district as a land that has inspired many struggles, he asserted that Bhuvanagiri remains a stronghold for the Congress party. He stated that the position of Chief Minister is a responsibility and not merely a title for him. Criticising the BJP government at the Centre, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of undermining democratic systems by misusing central agencies to threaten opposition leaders.

Revanth Reddy claimed that former Chief Minister and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao had never shown respect for the communists who led significant peasant movements. He said the Left parties have joined forces with the Congress party to oppose the Modi government. He accused the BRS of supporting the Modi government for a decade, pointing out that BRS MPs backed every bill introduced by the central government. He said that if BRS wins any seats in Telangana, they would likely continue to align with the BJP.

He criticised the BRS for its governance over the past decade, claiming that none of the poor children were provided jobs, while KCR's family members were given positions in government and other roles. He mentioned that nearly 30 lakh jobless youths were neglected during the BRS's tenure. He accused the BRS of undermining the future of unemployed youth, alleging that Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question papers were sold in Xerox centres.

However, he noted that within just four months of taking office, the Congress government managed to fill 30,000 vacancies, emphasising the contrast between the two parties' commitments to employment and youth welfare.

Accusing the BJP of obstructing the formation of Telangana, Revanth Reddy questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's right to ask for votes in the state. He remarked that Sonia Gandhi played a crucial role in establishing Telangana despite knowing that the Congress party would likely suffer losses in Andhra Pradesh as a result.

He also highlighted that the Congress government had already fulfilled five out of the six guarantees it made to the people during the Assembly elections. He said all other promises would be fulfilled after the Lok Sabha elections.

Revanth Reddy asserted that the Congress party faces no significant competition in Bhongir and is poised to win and retain the seat without any difficulty.

In his speech, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress party would win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, predicting that Rahul Gandhi would become the next Prime Minister.

Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and other senior leaders participated in the roadshow. Prior to the public meeting, a rally was organised from Bhuvangiri Ganj to the Ambedkar statue, attracting a significant turnout.
