Security personnel of CM Revanth Reddy allegedly attacked writer Madabhushi Sridhar and journalist Pasam Yadagiri during the Alai Balai event.
HYDERABAD: Tensions erupted at the Alai Balai event held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds on Sunday when security personnel of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy allegedly assaulted writer and professor Madabhushi Sridhar and senior journalist Pasam Yadagiri. The two were reportedly injured during the scuffle.
Speaking to the media, Sridhar expressed his frustration, stating that they had attended the event upon a personal invitation from Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. “When Revanth Reddy was arriving, his security strangled me and pushed me aside. My friend Yadagiri was stepped on, causing his leg to bleed,” Sridhar said.
He questioned the excessive force used by the security, asking, "Is security meant to kill people? Are they acting like police officers or a private army around the Chief Minister? Should they kill everyone around him?" Sridhar further commented that they narrowly escaped a serious incident, imploring the Chief Minister to avoid such excessive measures and requesting that the safety of attendees be ensured at future events.
Sridhar appealed to Governor Dattatreya to intervene and ensure that such violent actions do not happen again, saying, "If such Alai Balai events continue like this, please stop them, but do not harm ordinary people."
