Congress, BJP shedding crocodile tears on farmers' welfare in Telangana: KTR
KTR alleged that the leaders of the Congress and the BJP ‘shedding crocodile tears’ were now the same political parties who created hurdles during the Telangana movement
HANMAKONDA: Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao (KTR) came down heavily on the Congress and the BJP for making false promises ahead of the polls and asked the public to vote for the BRS which implemented welfare schemes for holistic development of people in Telangana.
KTR on Friday inaugurated a slew of development projects worth Rs 900 crore in Warangal and participated in a public meeting at Hanamkonda. Addressing a public gathering, KTR alleged that the leaders of the Congress and the BJP ‘shedding crocodile tears’ were now the same political parties who created hurdles during the Telangana movement.
Be it Rythu Bandhu, round-the-clock power supply to farmers, water and the implementation of a crop loan waiver, the BRS Government was doing everything to benefit the farmers. But, the Congress and the BJP were trying to create an impression that the Government was not doing much to help them, he said. “In what capacity, the Congress leaders are making allegations against the BRS who did nothing for farmers during the regime. They should stop shedding crocodile tears as the farmers are not going to believe them any more,” KTR said.
Taking a jibe at Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay who praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as God, KTR criticised the BJP-led NDA Government for the enhancement of LPG cylinder from Rs 400 to Rs 1,200. Similarly, the prices of petrol and diesel were skyrocketing and causing severe hardships for the people in the country. “I appeal to the people of Telangana to vote for the BJP in the next elections if they get Rs 15 lakh in their Jandhan accounts, as promised by the Prime Minister in bringing black money. Else, vote for the BRS to benefit from the schemes implemented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR),” KTR said.
The IT Minister also said that the BRS Government enhanced the pension from a meager of Rs 200 per month given by the Congress to Rs 2,000 per month. The number of pensioners was increased to 46 lakh during the BRS Government rule compared to 29 lakh in the Congress regime. He criticised the Congress leaders for hoodwinking the people with false promises of enhancement of pensions ahead of the elections. “I will request KCR to enhance the pensions in Telangana, soon after the BRS is voted to power in the coming elections,” KTR said.
