Congress completed several projects in Telangana, but BRS govt failed Kaleshwaram project: Rahul Gandhi

MAHABUBNAGAR: The Congress party has completed numerous development projects in Telangana, including the Singur dam, the Nagarjuna Sagar dam, and the Indra Priyadarshini Jurala project, but unsuccessful Kaleshwaram project developed by the BRS government is the first example of Dorala Telangana, said Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday.

Speaking at a public meeting in Kollapur in Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday, "Today, my sister Priyanka Gandhi was supposed to come here, but she's suffering from fever. Our relationship is not political, but I came here instead of her because we are family. Even though I had a party meeting at 5 pm in New Delhi, I came here because I felt it this is more important. Elections in Telangana are soon approaching, and this time elections are a battle between Prajala (people) Telangana and Dorala (feudal) Telangana.

"On one side, it's Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his family, and on the other side, we stand with the people of Telangana, the mothers, sisters, and unemployed youth. There are two significant betrayals in Dorala Telangana. The first is the Kaleshwaram project, where the BJP and the BRS have siphoned off Rs 1 lakh crore from the people of Telangana," said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress MP added, "We, the Congress, have constructed projects like Nagarjuna Sagar, Singur, Sriram Sagar, and more. Compare that to the Kaleshwaram project. The second betrayal is the land issue, where our Congress's Prajala Telangana had granted lands to Dalits, Tribals, and Backward classes, but KCR's Dorala Telangana revoked them, citing computerisation as a reason, and introduced the Dharani portal to take over the lands.

"Due to KCR's decision, 20 lakh farmers have been affected and faced injustice, while only one family has benefited from Dharani. State employees are not receiving their salaries on time, and the public sector units are closing down. Key portfolios such as land revenue, sand, and liquor are under KCR's family to exploit Telangana. You all dreamt of Telangana with a Prajala Sarkar but not a Dorala Sarkar, and we aim to fulfill that dream through Congress's six guarantees.

"The fight here is evidently between the Congress and the BRS in Telangana. The BRS, BJP, and AIMIM are working together. BRS lends full support to the BJP on Bills like GST and against farmers in Parliament. BJP is targeting all opposition CMs with CBI, ED, and IT cases, but there are no actions against KCR's corruption. The AIMIM is also indirectly supporting the BJP, as it encourages AIMIM to field candidates in many places. Voting for the MIM or the BJP is ultimately in vain, as it benefits BRS. The BJP is also destined to lose in 2024 at the national level," said Rahul Gandhi.

He added that, "People have made up their minds, recognising that KCR may have the power of money, Government, and media, but the truth is with the people and Congress. Our cadre is fearless, they have faced many struggles, and your time is coming soon. Our relationship is not just political but also one of love and affection. The people of Telangana stood by Indira Gandhi during her difficult times."

The Congress party kept whatever promises were made in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh and all the guarantees were granted in the first cabinet meetings and the party would do the same in Telangana, he added.

The amount of money that KCR looted from the people of Telangana would be returned to the people of Telangana by Congress, concluded Rahul Gandhi.
