Congress hoodwinked people on Palamuru-Rangareddy LIS, says Niranjan Reddy
KCR has fulfilled his promise of setting up the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme which the opposition failed to do so for decades, said Agriculture Minister K Niranjan Reddy on Wednesday
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has fulfilled his promise of setting up the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) which the opposition failed to do so for decades, said Agriculture Minister K Niranjan Reddy on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Minister said that the project was hastily announced by former Congress Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy just to derail the Telangana movement and to "deceive the people of Palamuru."
"The claim made then was that Jurala backwater can be utilised for the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project is ludicrous. Is it possible to lift 6 TMC of water and provide 70 TMC of water to Palamuru-Rangareddy," the Minister questioned the Congress.
"Under the supervision of KCR, 263 TMC of water is being lifted from Srisailam backwaters for the project. Only after formation of Telangana, the targetted ayakuttu for Jurala was achieved," he said.
