HYDERABAD: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing BJP social media warriors meeting in Secunderabad on Tuesday, said that the Congress which had opposed the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, also refused to give citizenship to migrants from Pakistan Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

“Congress opposed the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) right of independence. But the BJP promised that those Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Christians, and Jains who were thrown away from these countries would get citizenship. Lakhs of people escaped persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. We will protect them. Within a few days all these migrants will become Indian citizens and enjoy equal rights,” Amit Shah said.

Calling upon the party’s digital warriors to work hard in highlighting the achievements of Narendra Modi’s Government in the past ten years, he said that elections might be held in April or May. He said that social media warriors could play an equal role to conventional cadres.

“The nation is chanting Modi, Modi. While the mandate is to cross 400 seats, at least 12 must be from Telangana,” the Home Minister said. “I urge you to wear a shirt less but don’t hesitate to spend money on data in the coming two months. We need to cross 400 seats all over the country and 12 in Telangana,” he said.

He urged the social media workers to note that Narendra Modi provided a corruption-free, efficient Government for ten years, unlike the earlier ‘Ayaram gayaram’ politics of instability.

“Unlike the corrupt Congress, Modi made India the fifth-strongest economy in the world from 11th position. If elected for one more time, we will make India the world’s third top economy,” he said. He said that India topped the world in data consumption, third in aviation and first to land on the South Pole of the moon.

He recalled that the BJP fulfilled all the major promises it made in the 2019 party manifesto, such as abrogation of Article 370, scrapping of triple talaq, and 33 percent reservation for women.

Strongly condemning family-run parties for their corrupt practices, he said that the Congress, the BRS, and the AIMIM could never bring in development in Telangana. He said that the BJP stood for the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day and the scrapping of Muslim reservations.

“I will give Telangana CM Revanth Reddy a list of his party’s corruption, like 2G, Sarada, Airtel, J&K Cricket, Bofors, and Maruti totaling Rs 12 lakh crore worth of corruption. BRS too resorted to corruption in the name of pride of Telangana,“ he said adding that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a long break every three months in a foreign country, while Narendra Modi never took a day off.

Amit Shah said that Narendra Modi gave Rs 2 lakh crore for Telangana and spent another Rs 4 lakh crore on developing its infrastructure. Comparing the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with that of Narendra Modi, he said that the latter ended Maoist and cross-border terrorism with an iron fist.

Amid tight security, Amit Shah, accompanied by Hyderabad Lok Sabha candidate K Madhavi Latha, visited the Bhagya Lakshmi temple near Charminar in the old city and offered prayers to the goddess.

Later, addressing a booth-level cadre meeting ‘Vijaya Sankalp Sabha’ at the LB Stadium, Amit Shah encouraged them to help the BJP cross the 400-mark in the ensuing elections.

Calling the Congress, the BRS, and the AIMIM as family-run political parties, Amit Shah said that the newly-elected Congress Government in Telangana also knelt before the Majlis and made Akbaruddin Owaisi a pro-tem speaker superseding many senior legislators. On the contrary, the BJP would never depend on vote bank politics, Amit Shah said.

Calling upon the cadre to ensure that Telangana would send 12 BJP MPs to Parliament, he said that the Narendra Modi Government had been depositing Rs 6,000 directly into the accounts of the farmers and during the next term the Centre would ensure the supply of potable water to every household.
