Congress pushed Palamuru into poverty, did nothing for 40 years: KCR at Devarakadra meeting
Which party is responsible for such a bad situation in Mahabubnagar district? Over 40 years in Congress reign, Mahbubnagar faced many problems, said KCR
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Monday targeted the Congress Party for ignoring Palamuru and pushing it into poverty. He added that nothing noteworthy was done in over 40 years of the Congress ruling the State.
Speaking at the Praja Ashirvada Meeting in Devarakadra on Monday, KCR said, "30 check dams have been sanctioned to Devarakadra district and lakhs of acres of paddy are being cultivated in Devarakadra after the BRS came to power."
Narrating the situation of Palamuru during the Congress' rule, the Chief Minister said, "Once Palamuru was a prosperous district. But in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh it was ignored. Many Chief Ministers said that they would adopt Palamuru but nothing worked out. The people of Palamuru had faced a lot of problems and villagers migrated to Mumbai and other cities in search of greener pastures."
Slamming the Congress party, KCR questioned, "Which party is responsible for such a bad situation in Mahabubnagar district? Over 40 years in Congress reign, Mahbubnagar faced many problems. Congress merged Telangana with Andhra Pradesh and the leaders then never thought of implementing any developmental programmes in our State. Not even a single Congress leader asked for a project."
Explaining the significance of the 'Bachawat Tribunal', KCR said, "If this area hadn't been merged with Andhra Pradesh, then it would have been in a better position. Later, the Jurala Project of 17 TMCs capacity was sanctioned but the Congress never touched it. Anjaiah, a Chief Minister from Telangana, laid the foundation stone for the Jurala Project, but the project wasn't completed."
The BRS president added that the Congress high command used to believe in the words of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and explained, "In 2004, Congress formed an alliance with us, but didn't give Telangana. Congress party tried to buy our MLAs and resorted to cheap politics. After 14 years of Telangana agitation, Congress announced the formation of Telangana but nothing came into reality. After one year, I sat on a hunger strike, many students died in the Telangana agitation and finally, the State was formed."
KCR said how pending projects in Palamuru were completed and said, "Karivena reservoir is going to be completed soon. I supervised Karivena reservoir and if it is completed, then 60,000 to 70,000 acres of land will be cultivated in the constituency."
Seeking votes for the BRS candidate Alla Venkateshwar Reddy, KCR said, "All the development that is taking place under BRS' Governance is visible and it is in front of you."
KCR then asked the people to figure out the history of a party first and then cast their vote. He said, "Which party is behind the candidate who stands in an election should be taken into consideration by the people. People have to exercise their franchise cautiously. The 'Right To Vote' is an important weapon present in the hands of people. The vote will decide the fate of people in the next five years. A leader who works for the welfare of farmers, poor people, and the wellbeing of the society should be elected."
