HYDERABAD: Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday alleged that the Congress was trying to come to power in Telangana through illegal means. “Satte se satta (power through gambling) seems to be their motive,” he said addressing media at the newly launched media centre at the Hotel Katriya.

Calling the Congress-ruled states as their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), the Union Minister said that money earned through coal and liquor scams in Chhattisgarh was pumped into elections of other States. “In Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister’s office is involved in corruption. The Congress Government through the Mahadev app resorted to crores of rupees in corruption,” he said.

The I&B minister further pointed out that Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel received Rs 508 crore from the promoters of the Mahadev betting app. Congress was trying to gather money from countries like the UAE through scams to win elections.

In Rajasthan, the authorities caught Rs 2 crore in cash and other valuables from the CMO at the State Secretariat. “For the six guarantees that the Congress gave in Telangana, now they are pumping money from Karnataka into Telangana,” he said.

He criticised the Congress which promised a pension of Rs 1,500 for women, jobs, 300 units of free power, and a start-up fund for the youth in his home State of Himachal Pradesh had not fulfilled a single promise in that hill state so far.

He said that very soon MLC K Kavitha would be arrested by the ED for her involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. “The ED didn’t spare AAP leader Manish Sisodia, next will be Kavitha and the Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal the kingpin of the scam,” the Union Minister said.
