HYDERABAD: Overall crime in Telangana has increased by 4.4 percent since 2021, said Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy on Thursday.

During the annual round-up at police headquarters in Hyderabad, DGP Mahender Reddy stated that, when compared to 2021, Telangana state's conviction rate increased by 56 percent, while robberies increased by seven percent.

Burglaries increased by 1 percent in 2022, while kidnappings increased by 15 percent, cyber crime increased by 57 percent, and white collar crimes increased by 35 percent.

According to Telangana police, murders were reduced by 12.5 percent in 2022, while murders for profit were reduced by 52 percent, dacoity was reduced by 35 percent, and culpable homicide was reduced by 47 percent.

Rape cases were reduced by 17 percent in 2022; crimes against SC and ST were reduced by 1.28 percent; NDPS cases were reduced by 5 percent; and POCSO cases were reduced by 5 percent. In 2022, CCTV cameras detected 18,234 cases, and a total of 10,25,849 CCTV cameras were installed across Telangana state.

As many as 61,674 complaints were handled through Hawk Eye, and patrol cars were mobilised across the state within seven minutes. In the year 2022, 431 PD acts were invoked, while She Teams handled 6,157 complaints. Bharosa centres were established in five more Telangana districts in 2022.

 The best police stations in Telangana

Since more than 1,000 FIRs were registered in the year 2022, Uppal police station has been ranked as the best police station in the state under category one.

Kodada Town Station took first place in category two since 500 to 1,000 FIRs were registered, while Adilabad Police Station took first place in category three.

Since 150 to 200 FIRs were registered, Lakshmidevipalli station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was ranked first in the fourth category.

Sirolu in the Mahbubabad district is first in the fifth category, with fewer than 150 FIRs registered. During the programme, DGP Mahender Reddy felicitated the station house officers (SHOs) of the respective police stations.
