CV Anand reappointed as Hyderabad Police Commissioner
CV Anand returns to lead Hyderabad Police after serving as ACB DG. His previous tenure as Commissioner lasted from 2021 to 2023.
HYDERABAD: Senior IPS officer CV Anand has been reappointed as the Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
The Telangana government issued orders for his transfer, along with four other senior IPS officers. Anand was previously serving as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). His return to the post comes after he last held the position from December 2021 to October 2023.
Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer, is known for his vast experience in policing. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police. After a brief period in central services, he returned to Telangana in 2021, when he was appointed as Hyderabad's Police Commissioner for the first time. In August 2023, the state government promoted him to the rank of DGP. However, during the 2023 elections, he was replaced as Commissioner.
Following the Congress government's rise to power, Anand was appointed as ACB DG. Now, he has once again been chosen to lead the Hyderabad police force.
In related transfers, Kothakota Srinivas Reddy has been appointed as Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement. Vijay Kumar has taken over as ACB Director General, while Mahesh Bhagwat has been given additional responsibilities as the Additional DGP for Police Personnel. M. Ramesh has been entrusted with additional duties as the IG of Police Sports.
